Access shares on PCs in the first router LAN
From FON Wiki Beta
The La Foneras firewall rules
These drop down boxes define from which network segments you can access which others.
On the image, you see the Foneras default values. This means, that you can access from a PC connected to the private Signal ('MyPlace') a PC connected your home LAN (here it's called WAN). It's not possible to access from the public signal ('FON_...'), neither to access the private LAN (WAN), nor the La Foneras private network.
Warning: Be really careful changing something on these settings!
How to access a network share on a PC localized in the LAN of your first router
If you have a PC with network shares using the LAN of your first router, you may want to access those shares when you're using the private ('MyPlace') WiFi network of the La Fonera. Here is how to do so.
As the PCs/notebooks are not in the same network segment, the shares won't be found by the Netbios names of the Windows machines. So you have to search for the local IP address.
- Find out the IP of the PC with the network shares
- Search for 'Computers' on the notebook connected to 'MyPlace'
- The PC should be found and all available shares are shown an can be used as normal
- This does not work the other way around :(
