BT FON
BT FON is an initiative between BT and FON that aims to give all its members access to wireless broadband wherever they are in the world. This is possible because all BT FON members agree to securely share a portion of their WiFi bandwidth through a separate channel on their wireless router with other members who are in range of their wireless router. These wireless routers become known as "BT FON hotspots".
Joining BT FON
There are two ways to join the BT FON Community. Which is best for you depends on who your Internet service provider (ISP) is.
- If you are a BT Total Broadband subscriber, you just need to opt in to the service here.
- Non BT customers who have broadband at home can join the community by installing and registering a La Fonera+ router.
- Note: Active users in the UK will be credited with the equivalent value of 120-minutes of Internet on consumption at commercial BT Openzone hotspots. For more information about this special promotion click here

How to connect and use BTFON's (BTOpenzone) Spots
- When you see a BTOpenzone signal in the list of available WiFi networks, connect to it.
- Open your web browser (IE, Firefox, Opera…) and go to any website i.e.: www.wikipedia.org. You will be forwarded to BT FON's portal.
- To log in as a FON member select FON using the radio button and enter your FON account details (the username is your email address).
- That's it, click the "Launch Browser" button to start surfing. If you are already sharing your broadband throug FON, enjoy your free WiFi roaming. If you are not yet sharing but have unused FON passes in your account, at this point, either a new pass will be used (if there are no mor minutes on previus pass) or a "running" pass will continue to use (if there are minutes left on previous pass).
Important Note: If you are not yet sharing your Internet connection and you are not a BT Openzone customer either, you will need to purchase and use FON WiFi Passes
How to use a Promo Code
A promotion code, also know as a coupon code, is a code that is associated with a discount, actually most BTFON promo codes are meant for providing free access during 1 hour/day (depending on the promotion's T&C).
- Once at the logging page (Captive Portal) click on the blue "Have a promo code?" button on the upper left side of the screen.
- If you are already a FON member simply enter your account details on the "Already a Fonero?" section. Otherwise fill in the "BT FON registration" section.
- Enter the promocode so as the characters you see on the picture (captcha).
- Finally click on "Launch Browser" to start using your free pass.
