FON passes enable Alien Foneros, people not yet sharing their broadband, to access Internet through a FONSpot.

Fonero-Aliens can purchase FON passes at any FON Spot around the world. Just by connecting to the FONSpot's WiFi signal, opening their web browser and following the instructions for purchasing access. And if they watch one of our FON videos, they'll actually get 15 minutes of access for free! FON Passes can NOT be purchased in advance, i.e. when you're still sitting at home, knowing that you will go on a trip, where you will need one. You have to be connected to a Fonera's public WLAN to get redirected to the captive portal, where you can buy the FON Pass (=FON Ticket).

How to buy...

To buy connect to a FON Spot

To purchase a FON Pass you'll need to be connected to a FON Spot:

• Connect to an opened WiFi signal which has a name (SSID) that begins begins by 'FON_'
• Open your browser and access any website i.e. www.wikipedia.org, at this point you'll be redirected to a FON captive portal.

Purchasing FON day passes

1. Click on the '1 day = $/€ 3' button
2. You'll be prompted to log in. Use your FON account details (email and password) or create one, if you still don't have one. The account can be used immediately.
3. Select the amount of day passes you would like to buy (either one or five), by clicking on the "Pack of five one day passes" or "One day pass" radio button and choose the payment service you want to use - Paypal or Click and Buy.
4. Choose the the ticket you want to buy (a single 1 day pass or a pack of 5 day passes)(both can be used with credit cards or credit balance on your account).
5. You'll be redirected to the online payment service.
6. At the end of the payment process you are redirected again to the FON page. Normally the day pass is already active. If you purchased a pack of 5 day passes, remember you'll have to manually activate the other day passes. You can use them at any FON Spot world wide during one year.

Purchasing FON hour passes

...a One Hour Pass

To purchase a One Hour Pass you'll need to

1. Send a SMS message containing the text "FON" to a number, check list below, depending on the provider of your mobile phone.
2. You'll receive an eight character long connection code back within minutes. This code can be used to start a FONsession of 1 hour.

• Advice : You can use this service only with a mobile phone from the corresponding country being logged to national network. You can't send a SMS from a French phone if your are in Spain for example.

How to use a pass

Your credit is shown

If you already have credit (passes) in your account, you can use it to connect without needing to buy additional passes.

1. Connect with a FON Spot, try to open any webpage like www.wikipedia.org, so the FON Spot captive portal shows.
2. Log in with you FON account details (email and password)
3. The following four options: 'Buy a pass via SMS', 'Buy a Pass', 'Redeem a PromoCode' and 'Use Pass' will be shown. Click on the 'connect' button in the Use pass option.
4. You get an overview of your remaining passes.
5. Click on the 'connect' button, your purchased pass will be activated.
6. Your log in will be confirmed and a countdown with the remaining connection time will be shown.

How to redeem a FON Pass Promo Code

• Log in with your FON user data (email and password) at the FON captive portal.
• Click on 'Connect' on the 'REDEEM A PROMO CODE' Banner.

• Enter the code in the first on the following screen and the digits of the captcha below.

• Click in connect, and your session starts running
