A FON Spot is a WiFi Hotspot created by a person who has installed a La Fonera router. All FON Spots signals start with “FON_...” followed by the customized WiFi signal name given by their owner (FON_Jim_hotspot, FON_CafeRio, etc).

FON Spots can be located through our Maps. To connect to one of them you need either a WiFi capable device with a web browser, it can be a laptop, a phone or a PDA (tested devices) or a device with a FON connection manager so that you need a browser to log in.

How to connect to a FON Spot

  • When you see a FON Spot signal (something like 'FON_...') in the list of available WiFi networks in the WiFi manager of your device, connect to it.

  • Open your web browser (IE, Firefox, Opera…) and go to any website i.e. www.wikipedia.org. The important thing is, you must be forwarded to the FON Captive Portal. Some pages, as www.google.com are white listed and will be shown without login. If the google site appears, don't worry, as soon you try to open a non white listed site, you will be redirected to the Captive Portal
