FON Prepaid WiFi is about making it as easy to access the Internet at FON’s Partners’ WiFi hotspots in addition to the hundreds of thousands FON Spots worldwide. If you are a Fonero and you want to access all these Partner hotspots and FON spots, you just have to pay FON directly and you will get access to these hotspots.
Where can I use my FON Prepaid WiFi?
Use FON Prepaid WiFi at any of the more than 300,000 FON Spots and at hotspots in FON Partners’ WiFi networks. FON Spots can be found worldwide, from Tokyo to New York. FON Partner’s WiFi hotspots are found in commercial locations like airports, train stations, cafes, etc.
How much does Prepaid WiFi it cost?
There are no subscription fees. Just choose from any of our base Prepaid WiFi options for the following prices: $/€/£5 (five dollars/Euros/pounds), $/€/£10 (ten dollars/Euros/pounds) or $/€/£20 (twenty dollars/Euros/pounds)1.
Once you credit your Prepaid WiFi into your account, the amount of the Prepaid WiFi will be subtracted by-the-minute as you connect (10 minute minimum). Charge per minute varies outside the FON Spots. For information about FON Partners’ WiFi hotspots and the charge per-minute click here
The charge if you use the FON Spots is $/€/£0,04 per-minute.
Note: There is a minimum consumption, this means once connected, the user will be charged some minutes in advance (10 minutes for in the FON network) and he/she won't be charged again until the connection time reaches the minimum +1 minute (in other words the 11th minute in the FON network).
Once I pay for FON Prepaid WiFi, can I get my money back?
No, FON Prepaid WiFi is not refundable. Once you buy FON Prepaid WiFi, it remains in your FON account until it is used to access WiFi in the FON Partner WiFi network or it expires. Unused FON Prepaid WiFi will be lost if your account has no activity for 180 days.
How do I use FON Prepaid WiFi?
Using FON Prepaid WiFi is done in two simple steps. And, if you already have FON Prepaid WiFi, you can go straight to step two!
- Add FON Prepaid WiFi to your FON account.
- Connect at a FON Spot with your FON details or at a FON Partners’ WiFi hotspot (e.g. a premium BT Openzone Hotspot) by selecting FON as a provider and then logging in with your FON account details.

How do I add Prepaid WiFi to my FON account?
Adding Prepaid WiFi to your FON account is really easy.
From FON Captive Portal:
- Click the "More Access Options" link underneed the three major products.
- Select "Prepaid WiFi" by clicking the "Buy Now" button in this option.
- Log in using your FON account details.
- Finally, select the amount of credit you would like to add and the Payment Method.

Can I use FON Passes to connect to WiFi Partner hotpots?
No. FON Passes grant access to the Internet at FON Spots only. To connect to our WiFi Partner hotspots, Foneros and non-members must purchase FON Prepaid WiFi.
Can I use FON Prepaid WiFi to connect at FON Spots?
Yes! FON Prepaid WiFi grants you access to the Internet at both FON Spots and at FON Partners’ WiFi hotspots. Note: FON Spots remain free for Foneros with active FON routers.
Do I have to be a non-member (Alien) to buy FON Prepaid WiFi ?
No. Anyone who registers with FON (Alien, Linus, Bill users) can purchase FON Prepaid WiFi.
I make money with my FON WiFi (I’m a Bill). How will Prepaid WiFi affect my WiFi Money?
You make WiFi Money (50% of net revenue) every time Prepaid WiFi minutes are consumed at your FON router. Note: Prepaid WiFi differs from FON Passes. FON Passes earn you WiFi Money (50% of revenue) when a pass is purchased at your FON router.
Is there a minimum Prepaid WiFi consumption or connection fee?
Yes. FON Prepaid WiFi charges a minimum connection fee equal to the value of 10-minutes of Internet consumption. 2
Example:
- You add $/€/£5 (five dollars/Euros/pounds) worth of credit to your FON Prepaid WiFi account.
- Then you connected to a FON Spot or WiFi Partner3 hotspot.
- During your first minute of connection, 10 minutes worth of credit is deducted from your account ($/€/£0,40).
- If you disconnect in less than 10 minutes the unused minutes will not reappear as unused credit in your account.
- If you stay connected for more than 10 minutes, the value of each additional minute is deducted from your account individually (approximately $/€/£0,04 per minute) until you run out of credit.
Note: If you lose connection but you re-connect within the next five minutes, your account won't be deducted the minimum connection fee.
