How to make a firmware update and what to care about?

WARNING! The FON Router firmware gets updated automatically. Do not update it unless Customer Care recommends you to do so (incorrectly upgrading the La Fonera/La Fonera+ by yourself may cause it to cease to function completely).

Where can I get the firmware for a update?

La Fonera: If you think you need a firmwareupdate, please contact the Support Team providing a screen shot of the 'Status Page' of your La Fonera's 'Management Console' and expalain us the problems you're experiencing.

La Fonera+: If you see the WiFi signal 'FON_PLEASE_CONNECT' , you will be asked to upload the firmware. Contact the FON Support and tell us what happened, we will provide you the firmware file you need.

La Fonera+

1. Open the Management Console of the La La Fonera+.

  • How to access the La Foneras management console: Connect to the MyPlace signal, open your browser and type http://192.168.10.1 and the console will be loaded. The standard username and password are admin/admin.

2. Have a look at the actual firmware version. It's shown on the top of the 'Status Page' of Console. 3. Click in the left menu on 'advanced' and then in 'firmware update' . Load the firmware version following your actual one.

1.1.0.1 > 1.1.1.0 > 1.1.1.1 > 1.1.1.2
  • For example, if your Fonera+ has 1.1.1.0, load the 'upgrade_1111.fon' file.

4. Start the update. This process can take several minutes. Do not interrupt this. The process has finished once you're able to access the Management Console again.
5. Repeat this process, until you have loaded the latest firmware version.
