Here are the instructions on how to use a printer with the La Fonera 2.0 For list of tested printers see the printer compatibility list and the list from OpenWRT

Instructions for Fonera

• Please connect the usb cable of your printer & power the device on (printer).
• click on USB -> Printer on the Fon Managment website (192.168.10.1)
• It should list the manufacturer & devicename of the attached printers. If not, your printer is not recognized

TROUBLESHOOTING : please SSH to your device and enter "dmesg" and send that info to the fonosfera mailinglist!

• Most printers (if not all?) should be recognized and working.
• Press "enable" for status.... and if your Fonera 2.0 is behind a "router" (or Firewall :-) you could enable "wan access" as well?
  • You can not change the port nor add security to it (yet?) but if you improve it...please tell us what you did :-)
• No reboot necessary

Mac OSX Tiger Instructions

• go with your browser on http://127.0.0.1:631/admin
• click on add printer
• choose a name and click forward
• choose ldp/rdp printer and continue
• in the uri textbox put socket://fonera_ip:9100 where fonera_ip is the ip of your fonera and continue
• choose your printer model and then add printer

Linux Instructions

Printer instellingen Ubuntu

Voor Ubuntu:

• ga naar printer instellingen (Systeem -> Beheer -> Afdrukken)
• klik op server -> nieuw -> printer
• apparaat selecteren -> Netwerkprinter
• Vul nu het rechter formulier als volgt in socket://192.168.10.1:9100 waar 192.168.10.1 het ip van je fonera is
• kies je printer model en voeg toe.

Linux Troubleshooting

• Ga naar Printer instellingen (Systeem -> beheer -> afdrukken)
• klik op help -> problemen oplossen -> afdrukproblemen aanpakken -> vooruit
• Selecteer je printer

Windows Instructions

• go to start -> settings -> printer/fax -> select your printer (properties)
• Go to ports
• Add port : "standard tcp/ip"
• Printername or ip-adress : "192.168.10.1"
• Portname : 9100 (protocol RAW)

WHAT IF I HAVE SEVERAL(n) PRINTERS LISTED? then they are 9100+n (port : 9101 is the next one)

• Press OK
• General-tab : Print Test page
• Verify your printer has printed a test page.

Windows Troubleshooting

• Check vooral dat je printer niet in OFFLINE modus staat
  • start -> settings -> printers -> Rightmouse-click your printer and "deselect" Use Your Printer Offline

BETATESTERS

• are you writing a 900 page book? are you printing your 10mpixel pictures? please tell us if it goes fast&good?
• Don't disconnect from the network while the printing process is still ongoing...The fonera 2.0 is not spooling it for you...

Algemene Troubleshooting

• Zorg dat je Printer AAN STAAT
• Zorg dat je Printer is AANGESLOTEN aan je Fonera 2, bij absolute voorkeur via een USB2 hub
• Zorg dat je de printer plugin hebt geinstalleerd en je Fonera 2 hebt herstart
• Verifieer op http://192.168.10.1 of de printer logo zichtbaar is en niet doorkruist.
  • Klik op het printer logo en kijk of je printer met naam & model is opgelijst.
• Duurt het printen lang? Niet vergeten dat deze een opwarmingsfase moet doen, dit hebben we zelf niet in de hand.
