Fonera Downloader is a Firefox add-on that allow you to monitor and add downloads to your Fonera.

Installation

Configuration

When Firefox restarts the add-on menu will be opened, click on 'Preferences' to configure the Fonera Downloader:

  • User Name: Should be left as 'root'
  • Password: Enter the password that allows you to access the dashboard of your fonera (default: admin)
  • Fonera Address: Enter the IP address of your Fonera.
    • If you are directly connected to the Fonera (Private signal or cable) 'fonera' will work
    • If you connect from the WAN side of the Fonera, to your broadband router for example, enter the WAN IP of your Fonera there.
    • If you want to control your Fonera from the internet enter the external IP of your internet line or your dyndns domain.
  • In account tab enter your Rapidshare and/or your Megaupload details. No details are needed for http or torrent downloads.

Usage

  • You can right click on a .torrent link or any type of download links and select to send it to the Fonera for download.
  • When you click on a download link a third option appear. You are now able, either to download the file on your computer, open it, or download it with the Fonera.
  • You can as well select a set of plain text links (direct links, RapidShare or MegaUpload links) and right click on them, then select 'Download with the Fonera'.
  • Click on 'Fonera Downloads' in the status bar to open the status window. The status of all your downloads are reported in real time.
  • Completed download will appear in their respective folders in the storage device attached to the Fonera (Hard Drive, Pen Drive, etc.)

Troubleshooting

I have to enter my Fonera credentials each time I launch Firefox

The Firefox plugin triggers a basic http authentication dialog on startup when you are accessing your Fonera from the WAN. To prevent this, in the 'Fonera Address' field enter your Fonera's credentials following this pattern: user:password@fonera-address:port

For example, if you are accessing your Fonera from: http://myfonera.dyndns.com:80 Then 'Fonera Address' enter: user:password@myfonera.dyndns.com:80
