fon est utile si les gens peuvent trouver localiser les hotspot fon facilement sur leur périphériques mobile/portable sans être connecté à l internet. Ces périphériques ( mobile,phone,pda,smartphone,laptop,iphone,blackberry,nokia)doivent pouvoir utiliser un GPS ( inclus dans le périphérique ou externe par bluetooth) et avoir accès à un fond de carte raster et au position des hotspots.Cette articles va passer en revue les différents moyens pour se diriger vers un hotspot wifi:
- par un navigateur web propre aux périphérique
- par un logiciel qui recherche un signal wifi
- par un logiciel gps qui affiche la position du gps et des hotposts wifi
Le site cartographique fon n'est pas le seul moyen de trouver les hotspot wifi car le site propose un export dans différents formats (ov2,kml,cvs,gpx) .

fon map could be see using fon map that contains only fon poi but also other web map if custom fon poi have been export(yahoo map,virtual earth ). All devices with internet acces ( wifi , gsm/3G/UMTS) could rendering the fon map if the navigator is compatible with javascript for support AJAX application (google map ) . The url to go to see if navigating software support rendering map is http://maps.fon.com/ . In the hope their ll be off line browser that support gear technology .Google map have a specific mobile version compiled against many OS but don't support fon poi rendering !!!. EMuator browser for many device is available here. The user agent ll be shown if possible using www.useragent.org. Jiwire [1] is a database that locate all commercial building that have wifi hotspot. Other website have already test differents web broswer but for non ajax map website .

Vous trouverez ici le nom des sites qui pourront être testé avec votre périphérique et votre logiciel client web. Ces serveurs web utilisent la technologie javascript et ajax et raster de votre navigateur. MAlheureusement un navigateur d'un téléphone portable /Gps à peu de chance de fonctionner par rapport à un navigateur comme Internet explorer sous Microsoft window.Le navigateur web utilisé par défaut pour un rendu optimum sera le logiciel mozilla.

Il est a noté que fon a optimisé son site pour les navigateurs IE et firefox mais rien pour les périphériques mobile ( nokia/symbian ,smartphone/window mobile ) .

Ce site permet d uploader des fichier gpx mais n'est d'aucune utilité en mobilité. Il permet d'uploader des données de façon anonyme a partir d'un lien et de visualiser le résultatsur un autre lien [2].Si un utilisateur upload son fichier après vous , vous visualiserez n'ont pas vos données mais ceux d'autres utilisateurs.

openlayer
Even if openlayer is a way to rendering vector/Raster information to raster image in the web client side. Open layer can support poi overlay.Openlayer can be use with osm project like here.The best could that poi is not vector overlay but only raster embedded with background raster.There is a vote for custom icon about wifi in osm project [3] and other page about adress geocoding [] because wifi could be locate by adress .

- default nokia navigator : arrow are not selectable. zoom work but error of memory appear.
- opera mini 4.2 on nokia : nookia default navigator don't succeed download opera mini so use Mac/intel PC !!
the input html tag is useable for enter text and search street but rendering is not suitable /useable, Zoom work.

Browser that could be install for being use instead the default one could be opera mini, opera mobile, Openwave Mobile Browser, Konqueror Embedded,netfront, minimo,torchmobile.
gps software
Many of device that have gps have software that can locate fon poi after import poi but they can't load all the poi of a country even they try to load them ( system is slow and unuseable) . So the software in many case is not suitable for locate pois and users have to wait for next version that is more optimize . At this time many navigation software don't support import custom poi because load poi is only accessible by a pay service ( like radar, restaurant ... ) .
