I-Line

  • Since 2002 all Libraries, Schools, ... can get a subsidized internet line (adsl)

Network diagram

  • These come with a router and a fixed ip.
    • To install a Fonera you not only have to connect it to a free port
    • You also need to give the Fonera a free fixed internet ip address
    • On the router you can find a label describing the IP-range & gateway given to your I-line network

The netmask would be something like "255.255.255.248"
    • You can also best take a working pc in that network and get "command line" (start -> execute -> cmd)
      • IPCONFIG /ALL

Configuration Fonera

  • you can configure the fonera via 2 methods
    • connect to it's wireless Myplace using the serial number at the bottom of the La Fonera
      • You can now connect to it's managment interface on 192.168.10.1
    • Connect the Fonera directly to a pc which has DHCP enabled. This pc will become a member of a "limited" 169.254.255.x network
      • You can now connect to it's managment interface on 169.254.255.1
    • Go to Advanced -> Internet settings
    • Switch it from DHCP to STATIC IP
    • Enter a free ip adres (182.21.150.21)
    • Netmask (255.255.255.248)
    • Gateway 182.21.150.1
