Contributing to FON Wiki
From FON Wiki Beta
FON Wiki hosts all documentation regarding FON and its products. This collaborative website is managed by FON representatives. It welcomes the publication of any content useful for the FON Community. Just keep in mind that FON Wiki is a knowledge base, not a place to state your private opinions. Thank you for your understanding.

Ways to contribute
- Correct the spelling mistakes or typos you might find.
- Translate pages into your language: see translation howto
- Add new chapters, better explanations, screen shots or improve the layout of existing pages.
- Create new pages to explain how to use our products in an undocumented fashion, add guidelines to install specific software into the Fonera or anything that does not fit in existing pages.
If you add content in a language different than English, consider whether it is interesting or not to have the content you just added in English. If it is the case, add it to the English page (in English) or create the English page. If you are able to do a basic English translation that would be great, but it is not mandatory.

Create a new page
There are several ways to create a new page in a wiki. Here is the easiest one in our opinion:
- Type http://wiki.fon.com/wiki/PageTitle in the address bar of your browser and click on the GO button.
- Use short, self explaining, English titles.
- If you create a page in any other languages, use the English title and append a /country code
http://wiki.fon.com/wiki/PageTitle/de for German
If you want to translate an existing page check the guidelines
- You can now edit the new page. Once you will save the changes for the first time, the page will be created.
Best practices
- Give a short description of what you did when editing an existing page or creating a new one. To do so use the Summary field just above the Save page button.
- Make sure that the layout of your page displays fine even when the window of your browser is 1024px wide (half of our visitors use a 1024px screen resolution).
- Add a category matching page language at the bottom of the page
or the language code matching on the language
- Once your page created you may need to create a link that leads to it so that people can find your page. To do so add to an existing (or several) page:
name you want to display
- If you consider that a page would be worth translating in other languages:
- 1. Add the following at the top of the page, so the title is easy to translate:

- 2. Add the language menu at the bottom of the page:
languages
- 3. Create the corresponding page within the Translation namespace and link it to the actual page.
eg: If you want the page name Fonera 2.0g to be translated: create a page untitled Translation:Fonera 2.0g and redirect it by adding the following to the new blank page:
#REDIRECT Fonera 2.0g or the name of the page you want to be translated
Check out the translation howto if you want to know how the translation will be performed.

Each page as a tab called Discussion. It is a regular WiKi page meant to discuss changes that were performed (by yourself or others), changes that would be needed, like merging a page with another. Feel free to discuss any changes that you don't feel confident to do yourself. You shall add your username along with timestamp by clicking on the signature button.
