La Fontenna

La Fontenna is Fon's very own antenna, designed to help Foneros extend their WiFi signal reach to localized areas around their house or flat and still have very good signal at home. La Fontenna is a directional antenna.
If you have an interesting location (like a bar, restaurant or park) in front of your house, the La Fontenna will help you to get the signal out of your house amplifying your range. Thanks to the 3m antenna cable you'll be able to place the La Fontenna at the ideal location to get a great coverage.
The La Fontenna is weather proof so it can be installed both indoor and outdoors with the proper hardware. It comes with double side stickers to be fixed to flat surfaces like glass or metal and also a couple of screws and a mounting plate so you can attach it to a wood or brick wall.

When and where it makes sense to the use a La Fontenna?
As shown in the image, depending on size and other environmental factors, the coverage with standard antenna may be very poor outside your home. This will make it difficult for other Foneros to get your signal.
La Fontenna will help you to solve this problem, its ideal placement is fixed to a window or a wall facing the street. You can of course turn your Fontenna towards rooms inside of your apartment but remember that the signal will be directed to one location. However, the La Fontenna is also designed to improve slightly the WiFi coverage in the area located at the back of the device.
Bear in mind that La Fontenna emits a cone-shaped signal (front side of the device), thus the quality of the signal becomes optimal when you are few meters away from the antenna.
May I extend La Fontenna's cable length?
The cable of the Fontenna is 3 meters long, if it is not long enough we advise you to move your La Fonera to a better location.
Using cable extensions for WiFi antennas is rarely a good choice as every meter of cable and connectors greatly reduce the signal quality. The length of 3 meters was chosen to manufacture the Fontenna because it represents a good trade between length and signal loss.
Mounting La Fontenna
On a Window:
Place the double side stickers on the La Fontenna's surface; bear in mind whether you want to place the La Fontenna indoor or outdoor.
- Indoor: Place the sticker on the FON side and then stick it to the inside of the window.
- Outdoor: Place the sticker on the back of the La Fontenna and then outside the window.
Tip: If you are going to mount the La Fontenna using the adhesive stickers, you can cut both stickers with scissors. This way you can fix the stickers on four different sides, that will ensure that the la Fontenna will be kept in place.
On a wall:
Screw the plastic hanger to the back of the La Fontenna and then fix it to the wall facing the street.
