Private signal:

  • Default SSID is MyPlace.
  • Default network segment 192.168.10.0/24
  • Built in DHCP server for this network segment.
  • Default WPA encryption, with device's serial number being the pre-shared key.
  • Routed to the ethernet segment for access to the local network and the internet.
  • The La Fonera's Management Console runs on this network segment.

The private signal is meant for personal use since it is encrypted

The private signal is normally the way to access the management console, where it is possible to change the La Fonera default settings directly using an easy to use web interface.

Troubleshooting

If you're not able to connect to the WPA encrypted private 'MyPlace' signal, please check the following things:

  • Did you enter the correct WPA key (by default it's the serial number printed on the bottom of the La Fonera; La Fonera+ for sale in the UK has an additional WPA key printed bellow the SN)?
  • Does your WiFi adapter and/or operating system support the WPA encryption method? If they don't simply change it on the Fonera (this can be done in the Management_Console
  • Have you tried connecting with a second WiFi enabled PC/notebook/gadget, to ensure that it is not a problem specifically related to the first device?

Try the following steps for Windows systems:

  • Use the 'repair function' of your wireless network connection. Right click on the wireless network connection at your 'network connection panel' . There you'll find a 'Repair' option.
  • Switch off and on your wireless adapter (this is possible on most notebooks).

  • Delete the network from the list of the 'Favorite networks' and start again from scratch.
click on 'Advanced configurations'
go to the 'wireless networks' tab, select the network you want to delete and click on 'delete'
