Change or check the IP settings of your Network Card

Each network interface has its own settings, so depending in which network you are interested in, you should select either your Ethernet card (cable) or your wireless card (WiFi) settings.

Basically there is two ways two ways to set a network interface (name different from one operating system to another):

  • Fixed IP: You set the parameters of the network interface your self
  • Automatic: You let an external DHCP server send the correct IP parameters to your network interface

Like most routers, the La Fonera has a DHCP server activated by default, all Hotspots do as well. It is advised to keep your network interfaces in "automatic" as it is what you will need in most places you will want to connect to the Internet (cable & wireless).
