T-Mobile G1 with Google Android OS

Making the connection

The G1 is very suitable for the use with FON. This mobile phone uses its internetconnections very much. This can be done with 3G or WiFi.

If you want to use the G1 with FON take the following steps:

1. . In the Home screen slide the menu up.
2. . Select Settings.
3. . Choose Wireless controles.
4. . Switch WiFi on. (make sure there is a green selectionmark behind Wi-Fi)
5. . Choose Wi-Fi settings.
6. . Wait for some seconds, a list of available wireless networks will be shown.
7. . Select the FON network you want to connect with. Wait for some time until it shows connected.
8. . Go back to the Homescreen by using the button with the house-symbol.
9. . Open the Browser.
10. . Open any website you want.
11. . You will be diverted to the Captive Portal. This is adapted to mobile use.
12. . Log in with youre FON account (e-mailaddress and password).
13. . You can now make use of the FON WiFi.

Applications

In the Android Market there is a (free) application FONMaps to find FON Spots in your vincinity.

This shows you the FON Maps and uses GPS to locate your position. You will see a map with your position and nearby FON Spots. To help find the Spot you can use the Application Radar.
