Talk:FON Spots List
From FON Wiki Beta
Series of FON Spots in Belgium and the Netherlands
- I'm quite happy to see that much hotspots added, thank you! Though I'm not sure how to handle it. Is it possible to have some more info than the location? Something like the name of the café/library would be nice, having the city where there are in would be nice as well

- When time permits (and perhaps also by other users), we will be clicking on each line and checking what it represents & updating the wiki accordingly... To find out where these "public places" are, we have to use maps.francofon.org; but regretfully due to french privacy laws they don't include the name & adress of the fonspot. Only the necessary information to get a link to maps.fon.com. Maps.fon.com does not allow us to "find" public places; it only allows us to filter them (away). But by showing foneros that there are indeed lot's of "public places"... we hope they will get other friends (that work/live nearby these hotels/restaurants/...) that FON is a valid hotspot solution; And a Fonspot in a public place is more worth than one inside a non public building :-)
- there is only one issue with this approach -> what about "new" hotspots :-)

- Well don't add new hotspots util there is a minimum description for all existing ones. This page meant to give a bit more info than only a location and type of FON Spots (café, library, etc.) as these info can simply be found on the map

- Hmm checking it again this page became a total chaos. It has not anymore anything to do with the description above it. Can you create another page, defining another goal for it? If it gets better that the FON Spot List, it will replace it on the main page

- You can't search on cafe/parc/hotel on maps.fon.com; you can only make them "invisible"...

- Good point, but I still think what you did is outside of the scope of this page. I removed the one which have no descriptions. A list like this, not sorted by town, isn't of any use:

- FonFanatic was busy with filling in the "blanks"... this is information not given by maps.fon.com export so it's tedious timetaking manual labour to research each link I was able to filter out.
- Point taken about "city" sorting... but that we can only do "after" we researched city of each hotspot... currently we only have the type, longitude and lattitude

- Got the memo about the export, nothing i can though, sorry.
- Yes i saw what FONfanatic did, that's great actually.
OK so lets add them only if there is more info that "café nl linktomap". The one i deleted can easily be found there If it's more convenient, a FON_Spot_List_Draft page can be created.
